Ten Fun Things To Do In Pansol

Hello po! Common knowledge among locals is that Laguna Hot Spring Resort (Since 1949) is the ONLY real hot spring this side of Pansol. The pool bed/ pool floor is composed of volcanic cinders, stones, and the spring water which came from its source in the mountains, is rich in minerals.

Laguna Hot Spring address is Purok 3, Barangay Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna. If riding a bus from Manila, it is in the left side and not in the main road, you have to walk going inside.

Here are the top ten fun things to do when in Pansol:

1. Swim. Learn/teach how to swim.
In my case, I don't know how to swim- only floating face down (which is still pretty useless coz I can't breathe that way). So I taught my companion how to float, which I learned in PE Swimming during my first year of college. I don't know how I passed that subject coz I still did not learn how to swim but I was able to pass the finals- crossing the Olympic sized pool was nothing short of a miracle- drowning a bit, kicking up and gasping for air, ingesting a lot of pool water, walking, splashing around. It left me traumatized.

2. Soak. Play water sports.
I spent most of my time soaking. As I have said, I do not know how to swim, so when I got tired of just dipping my body, I resorted to next best thing- floating around or what I call semi-snorkel. Using the salbabida (lifebuoy), I faced down very near the surface of the crystal clear water. Not submerged, allowing me to breathe. I marveled at the marine life. Most fish are grayish, brownish, but there are a few colored orange, blue, violet, green. Goggles are optional. These are for rent. I paid Php 50 for the floating device. Then we also played who can hold their breath longest underwater. We also played get the colorful stones.

Nothing beats natural hot springs, the water is not stagnant/chlorinated! Plus, stepping on the stones is like accupressure for the feet.

The rounded area with blue tiles. This special corner has a provision for sitting. It will take ages for people, elderly mostly, to vacate that area as they fully enjoy the hot streams there.

4. Meditate/Contemplate. Clear your mind. Communicate with a Higher Being and Mother Nature. So deep.

5. Get a body scrub/massage. The "hut" at the far side is where you can get a rub down.

Night swimming is also not scary since the vicinity is well-lighted.

6. Fish Spa
Why go to a fancy salon for a foot spa when the hardworking Dr. Fish is around?  To think that I was initially terrified of them, no thanks to Jaws and Piranha movies. They only gently suck for a second- like a pulse. An ant's bite is a bit painful, but not the fish kiss; it feels ticklish.

This is shot in the steps of the stairs, but in some parts of the pool like the special corner I mentioned, I was overwhelmed- at one point, around 30 fishes were feasting on my feet.

7. Recharge. Sleep and reset. Forget work for a while. As they say, work hard, play hard.
