The New Honda BeAT-FI eSP the Scooter For All

Hello po!
Honda, the world's Number 1 motorcycle manufacturing company since 1959, held their Let Your Beat Out campaign at the SM Mall of Asia last May 30, 2015.

There were fun activities like basketball shooting, rave music, awarding of the winners of their Facebook video contest, and there was a street dancing competition. Here's one of the participants, Mama's Boys, dancing to the beat of their funny repertoire!

Elie Salamangkit Jr., Product Planning Manager of Honda Philippines, Inc., explaining the features of the new Honda scooters. The price is truly within reach of a wide market of scooter enthusiasts including the younger generation. The standard model of the new generation Honda BeAT-FI eSP series is just Php 66,900 (trendy colors with speedy stripe, available in Black, Ross White/Red and Ross White/Blue), while the CBS/ISS variant  is at Php 69,900 (premium colors with speedy stripe comes in Black and Candy Scarlet Red).

Honda Click 125i was launched February this year. The Honda BeAT-FI eSP is its compact version. Majority of the premium scooter's modern technological features, Honda Smart technology, as well as the futuristic and sporty design was adapted by the Scooter For All. The only major difference is the engine displacement.

The industry-leading and pioneering Honda Smart Technology actually has 3 main features- the eSP, the ISS and the CBS.
The New Honda BeAT-FI eSP Scooter For All, beat carb, beat pgm fi,

The eSP in BeAT-FI eSP Series means Enhanced Smart Power- an advanced engine technology that combines high power and high fuel efficiency with a quiet start and smooth eco-friendly engine. The technology enables the efficient combustion of the engine as well as minimizing friction, thereby reducing waste, while optimizing energy output. The eSP technology is integrated with the unique Honda ACG starter to ensure a jolt free start once the rider turns on the engine.

It also supports the application of another advanced and exclusive Honda feature known as the Idling Stop System (ISS). The ISS automatically switches off the engine of the scooter during brief stops thus saving fuel. The rider does not need to restart the scooter on ISS as he/she only needs to twist the throttle and the engine is switched on again in less than a second.
honda philippines, launch, honda beat,

The New Generation Honda BeAT-FI eSP Series, with superb performance, can accelerate from 0 to 200 meters in 12.6 seconds and has a top speed of 94 kilometers per hour. In addition, it is also an environmentally-compliant scooter and is in fact several notches better than the very high Euro 3 emission standards.

The Honda Smart Technology powers the New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series to its very remarkable on-road performance punctuated no less by its class-leading fuel efficiency which is 63 kilometers per liter for its CBS/ISS variant, and 58.5 kilometers per liter for the standard model, based on the ECER40 test method.
The New Honda BeAT-FI eSP, let your beat out,

Honda has also maintained its trend-setting safety and security features in the New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series including-

  • A secure key shutter- practical and comforatable magnetic locking system reduces risk of theft;
  • A side stand switch-with an electric circuit braker, engine would not start if side stand is down, eliminating risk of accident and ensuring rider safety;
  • Park brake lock- prevents the motor current to jump start the engine and jerk the scooter thereby avoiding the risk of unwanted accidents. It is easy to release, just pull back the left brake lever;
  • Automatic Headlight On (AHO)-  greatly ensures the rider's visibility to other motorists; and
  • Combi-Brake System (CBS)- delivers controllability, convenience, and the sense of confidence for the rider because the technology in the scooter gives it the optimum braking power while reducing nosedive, which is very common in many scooters and motorcycles. Because the technology enables the application of the right amount of brake power on both wheels of the scooter, the shortest stopping distance when braking can be achieved.

In terms of utility space, the New Generation BeAT-FI eSP Series has a larger utility box that is capable of accommodating 11.2 liters worth of personal items or safety equipment.

The New Honda BeAT-FI eSP, moa, sm mall of asia,

The new Honda Beat is specially developed for the Philippine and Indonesian market. It is a giant leap from its predecessors, the groundbreaking BeAT Carb in the Philippines, and the best-selling BeAT PGM-Fi in Indonesia.

Now scooter enthusiasts can exercise their freedom of choice among the three modern and excellent performing scooters from Honda- the Zoomer-X, the Click125i and the latest BeAT-FI eSP!
The New Honda BeAT-FI eSP, price, specs,

With all the advantages of the new The New Honda BeAT-FI eSP, it is definitely the Scooter For All who are willing to let their beat out at every chance! :)

My Vegetarian Salad Quest

Hello po!
I am taking baby steps towards becoming a vegetarian. Actually I was always a vegetarian at heart as it had been my preference, whenever available. I don't like meat, especially fat- it seems like a clear gum that I can't bring myself to swallow it.

My reason, not only for vanity or because it is better for the health, is because of compassion for the animals. I agree with animal advocates that they don't deserve the torture and cruelty and to be slaughtered for food. Well, we all have different opinions on this matter, and this is just my view.

It is hard to be a vegetarian. In this country, there are very few vegetarian restaurants (mostly expensive). When I go to some restaurants,  what they offer mostly have meat incorporated in the menu. Then there are some events or parties that offer nothing but meat dishes. But we can always go to turo-turo/karinderia and order dirt-cheap vegetable dishes like mongo, togue at tokwa or pakbet.

Before, I don't order salads but now I am trying to switch to eating them rather than greasy burgers. I went to top fastfood chains McDonalds and Jollibee (update September 2016: Jollibee now offers mashed potato and corn bits), but they do not offer salad.

I found these fastfood/restaurants that do offer salads at reasonable prices-

Tropical Hut Green Salad Php 55 (update September 2016: price increase- now Php 70). Lettuce, slices of egg, cucumber, tomato, carrots, croutons, tuna, corn, dressing.

tropical hut salad, salad in fastfood,

KFC Garden Salad. Lettuce, julienned cucumber, carrots, cherry tomato. Choice of Strawberry, Caesar, Asian dressing. This is Php 65.

kfc salad, salad in fastfood,

KFC's premium salad that costs Php 120, bigger serving plus additional croutons and- I think these are- turnips/singkamas.

KFC's premium salad that costs Php 120, bigger serving plus additional croutons and- I think these are- turnips/singkamas.

Wendy's Side Salad. Macaroni, raisins, pineapple tidbits, cucumber, red and green gulaman (jelly), dressing, cheese. The price is Php 49. I had loved this since I was in college but somehow the taste has changed or maybe it's just my imagination as I am growing very used to this? Next time I will try their other salad variations. Wendy's has more choices of premium salads including the salad bar (all the ingredients you can manage to put in your tray).

wendy's salad bar, wendy's side salad, fitness blogger philippines, wellness blogger philippines, vegetarian, vegan,

Mexicali House Salad.  Price: Solo is 34, Full is Php 64. I am amazed at how affordable and simple (tomato salsa, onions, shredded lettuce), yet big and delicious this is! Love this!

Bonchon Ceasar Salad Php 125. I think this is very expensive because it only contains croutons, parmesan cheese, lettuce and dressing. The other variant is Oriental Crispy Chicken.

Dezire Anti-Aging Supplement Review

Hello po,
So last May, when I attended Bioessence Mother's Day Zumba event in La Mesa Eco Park (open to the public) I got this supplement from Mega. It's called Dezire.

dezire food supplement, dezire anti-aging,
Image is taken from their website.

Ingredients:

dezire review, dezire price, ingredients, made in where,

D-fine Complex is said to help firm, hydrate and tighten skin and repair the appearance of signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines, and stretch marks.

Precautions:
Potential of hypoglycemia in diabetic patients, because of Alpha Lipoic Acid's ability to lower blood sugar level.
People with allergy to marine components.

Made by Mega Lifesciences Thailand for Mega Lifesciences Australia.

mega lifesciences dezire,
Yes the capsules are quite big like some multi-vitamins but there is no problem swallowing them. I did not experience any acid reflux upon swallowing it, because sometimes after swallowing other big capsules I feel like vomiting.

My experience:
I already finished 60 capsules. I take one capsule twice a day but there are some days that I was not able to, maybe 5 times but not consecutive. My problem is shallow wrinkles under the eyes and around the mouth. Laugh lines- as they appear when I smile. I also use topical anti-aging creams while using it.

After finishing one box, the fine lines around the mouth might have diminished a little, but were not totally erased. I suppose months of using is needed to see any dramatic improvement. It also seems that while using this product, I hardly got any pimple, and if ever, it quickly disappears so skin is generally smooth with this.

I asked in a few Mercury branches for the price but sad to say, they said that this product is already phased out.

Nivea Creme and Baby Smoothy Review

Hello po! During Nivea's 50% discount sale, two of their products I bought in the supermarket are their wildly popular Nivea Creme (touted most sold moisturizer worldwide) and their Baby Smoothy Cream because it looks cute and I like the color. So I thought about comparing the two. Shall we begin?

Packaging:
The classic is in a darker blue tin canister and the baby's is in a lighter blue plastic container. I like the baby's coz it's cuter.

nivea creme review, nivea creme price, nivea creme ingredients,

Texture:
The classic has a thicker consistency. Both are color white.

nivea baby smoothy cream review, nivea baby smoothy price, nivea baby smoothy ingredients,

Fragrance:
They have different fragrances and I can't say which I prefer, coz it depends on my mood. Sometimes, I like the stronger aroma of the classic, and at times the more subtle scent of the baby's is to my liking.

Price:
Nivea Creme 60 ml is Php 124, Nivea Baby 200 ml is cheaper at Php 162.

Made in:
Nivea Creme is manufactured in Thailand while the Baby Smoothy is from Turkey.

Ingredients:

nivea creme, nivea baby smoothy, made in where, uses, beiersdorf germany,

They are non-greasy and paraben-free. Both contain Eucerit or lanolin alcohol (sometimes known as sheep alcohol, the fat of wool shearings), while the variant for the baby also has Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract. I use them to moisturize my hands and other dry sensitive areas.

Thanks for reading! Have you taken advantage of Nivea's half price promo too and what did you get? :)

Fifty Shades of Marketing - Know Your Shade and Take Control

One thing that I clearly remember in my Marketing subject back in college is the 4 P's of Marketing. See, my seatmate back then was basketball superstar James Yap, and we would often chat. But I very well know that Marketing is indeed very essential and important. There are some good products, services or brands that failed because of the neglect of, or wrong decisions in, the marketing aspect.

But now, times are different. Paradigm shift, as what they call it. Take for instance in Youtube or Instagram, see how casual looking some posts from regular people  (I mean non-celebrities) are, and yet they were able to garner more "likes" than well-funded or well-orchestrated ones from big companies. Digital age is progressing rapidly and it's very exciting. And to be able to succeed one must be able to adapt to change. Marketing is evolving too.

Panelists, from left to right: Donald Patrick L. Lim, CPM- Overall Chairman, AMLS/ 2005 PMA President, Chief Digital Officer, ABS-CBN; Yayu E. June 11, 2015 was the media briefing of the Philippine Marketing Association's Fifty Shades of Marketing held in Hotel Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City. I must say that yesterday's presscon was only about an hour but it certainly made a big impact and I was able to learn many practical and valuable information! Yes, you have to register to know the secrets of the masters ;)

The Philippine Marketing Association was founded on January 27, 1954. On its 61th year, it is the premier marketing association in the country and the only one recognized in the Asian Marketing Congress.

Mr. Tenedero and the 2015 PMA Theme Logo; and posters from some of the past conference.

The Philippine Marketing Association was founded on January 27, 1954 , pma when founded,

When Mr. Lim started with the overview of "50 Shades of Marketing", he mentioned Permanent White Water, described as thus:

permanent white water, peter vaill, marketing, 50 shades of marketing,

The goal of every marketer is to control the market, to make consumers believe a brand's promise and behave favorably. But according to marketing guru Mr. Donald Lim, to gain control, brands must first learn to submit. "Marketing is always about brands being dominant and consumers submitting. But in reality, every brand has to submit first because the submissive is the one who is in control. "

He even cites Facebook as an example. (I myself do not hesitate to comment or post to page my complaints in companies' FB pages, as the customer is always right.) Brands want to engage customers but some are afraid of setting up an FB page because of fear in getting bad feedback or comments. This should not be the case. He explains, "Creating a channel for interactive engagement with the market is an example of submitting to them. When you start submitting to your market, you will learn how to manage. Eventually, you will realize that you become the dominant."

Here are just the first 30 speakers (but there will be a total of 50 to watch out for) from government, showbiz, branding, digital, who will be talking about their marketing shade- how they solved their marketing problems and what makes their solutions different. Unlock your marketing genius!

Sen. Francisco Chiz Escudero will deliver the keynote during the Plenary Session while Francis Kong (one of my favorite inspirational speakers, I attended his talks a few times already) wil clos the plenary. Day 2, ABS-CBN CEO Charo Santos Concio will open the session while an ABS-CBN Aquino & ABunda Special with celebrity guests and their managers will eb the closing plenary.

Participants could choose from different tracks like Branding, PR and Media.

Day 1, Sen. Francisco Chiz Escudero will deliver the keynote during the Plenary Session while Francis Kong (one of my favorite inspirational speakers, I've attended his talks a few times already) will close the plenary. Day 2, ABS-CBN CEO Charo Santos-Concio will open the session while an ABS-CBN Aquino & Abunda Special with celebrity guests and their managers will be the closing plenary.

Why the similarity with the bestselling-albeit controversial-book turned movie, Fifty Shades of Grey? Because of its parallelism with marketing, the dominant and submissive roles. And the 50 shades in this case, connotes the 50 marketing practitioners showing their expertise, their own shade of creativity and innovation. There will also be raffles and a chance to win a brand new red car (yes, still in keeping with the book when Christian gave Anastasia one).

ifty shades of marketing speakers, fifty shades of marketing rates, fifty shades of marketing venue,

Philippine Marketing Association's Fifty Shades of Marketing, The Asian Marketing Leadership Summit will be held  on July 8 and 9, 2015 at the Sofitel Tent. AMLS is the new brand of the annual marketing conference that PMA stages. Unlike the previous conferences, this year's is much more of a gathering of marketing leaders, a summit where there will be more discussions and interactions, taking inspiration from the Digicon.

The Cowrie Grill- A Proper Meal in A Special Place

Hi dearies!
Last May 21, 2015, yours truly went to The Cowrie Grill upon a media invitation. Years back, I have always read about this special place whenever I read the Panorama and was pretty curious about it.

Promenade Mall, Missouri St., Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan.

Cowrie Grill is once housed inside the Manila Hotel and had moved to its new location in Promenade Mall, Missouri St., Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan. It's to give way to Cafe Ilang Ilang's expansion.

cowrie grill address, san juan,
From a window outside, one can watch their highly skilled chefs at work.

I have wondered why the place is called Cowrie Grill because-
1. I am not aware what a cowrie is.
2. Why are there seashells lending a Filipino vibe when the food they serve is western.

cowrie grill locaion, cowrie grill review,

Well, to answer the question, the legend began way back 1977 when the prestigious hotel showcasing  Filipino artistry featured the ingenious craftsmanship of the Philippine cowrie- the most coveted sea shell found in the deep waters near Leyte in Visayas.

Remarkably unique, the lavish decor with thousands of the rare cowrie shells made the features of the restaurant charming. Hence, The Cowrie Grill was born.

The Cowrie Grill offers signature creations of steaks and grilled entrees with gracious tableside service. The food is cooked and served right before the guests, in a manner much like the old times- dishes are prepared to the highest of standards.

Our menu for the day-

Complimentary bread and spread. There is the French butter, mixed herbs (my favorite) and sun-dried tomato. I asked also for hot tea.

Using a Montague steakhouse broiler, the prime meat is cooked medium, as such, when sliced, one can see that the inside is pink. This is juicy, tender and tasty. Wines are a perfect pair as it really helps to break down the protein.

The uber sweetness of the icing is balanced by the sourness of the strawberry. Like the flame in the flambe and the ice cream inside this concoction. Tickled my tastebuds!

Global Gastronomic Tour at the Cafe Ilang Ilang

Hello dearies! Year 2011 when Cafe Ilang Ilang was newly renovated, they had a promo we saw in Manila Bulletin.  Me and the hubby availed the 50% off, reserved and went there. Yes, hotel food is known to be not exactly cheap but the price is very worth it. We marveled at the elegant setting and delighted at the vast array of cuisines from around the world. That night, the epicurean in us felt very satisfied. We knew we deserve this.

Last May 20, 2015, I am very lucky to be invited to Cafe Ilang Ilang for lunch. To once again experience the feast in Cafe Ilang Ilang inside the historic Manila Hotel, where visitors experience genuine Filipino hospitality by Manila's most courteous employees.
