Project Ganda: Honoring Pinays by Painting the Town Beautiful!

Because every woman is beautiful and she deserves to be reminded of this, the QC Ladies Foundation presents Project Ganda, a mural painting project in honor of all Pinays. The launch was held last May 11, 2017 at the QCX in Quezon Memorial Circle.

Because often, it only takes a soft nudge, a simple message or a beautiful piece of art to make someone realize that they are special!

The said event was a gathering of board members and district officers of QC Ladies to launch their first ever mural under Project Ganda, as seen below. It was also staged to officially call for volunteers and partners who can assist the foundation in making this vision come to life. They hope you can join them in painting the city, and the whole country, with different colors of womanhood.

QC Ladies Foundation President Harlene Bautista-Tejedor states, "We were initially thinking of a beautification project for Quezon City. It is something that can remind the residents and visitors of what ladies stand for. We wanted a big, beautiful statement for women. So we thought why not make a mural that we can donate to charities and organizations or even spread around Quezon City to help remind ladies that they are and will always be beautiful. What initially was a beautification project, became something even greater."

For this year, QC Ladies chose the flower as a tribute for women. Each color of the flower represents a role that women play in society or even an issue that females usually encounter. Red is offered to policewomen and firewomen. Purple is a tribute to rape survivors, telling them how strong and beautiful they are.

According to Harlene (who is also known as an actress and sister of incumbent Mayor Herbert 'Bistek' Bautista), they would want to paint as many colors of flowers as possible and donate these to people who would find inspiration in looking at these things of beauty.

Invited guest speakers that afternoon were lady advocates, Antoinette Taus and Toinkee Tomen. Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte was also in attendance to show her support.

Toinkee delivered her inspirational speech. She  pioneers the fight for rights of little people in the country.

Antoinette, as we all know, was a popular teen star back in the days, half of the love team with Ding Dong Dantes, before she migrated to the USA. Currently, she uses her celebrity status into good doings, as an active empowered philanthropist, ambassadress of UNICEF in the Philippines, and founder of Cora Cares (lovingly named after her mom, it's an organization promoting sustainable projects) and hashtag Lunchbox PH.

Harlene shares, "These are the kinds of women that we want to have in the society. Strong and confident. This is why we're doing these murals. To hopefully strengthen beautiful souls through simple mural reminders."
